The over 700,000 residents of D.C., made up of mostly black and brown people, have been denied a vote in Congress because D.C. is not a state. Every presidential candidate should support D.C. becoming the 51st state with 51 votes in the Senate.

The path to statehood and full citizenship shouldn’t be blocked by archaic Senate rules like the filibuster. A simple majority of the U.S. Senate can end second class citizenship for D.C. residents.
